New Room...New Decorations!

So back at the end of the school year I was able to work in my new classroom for a day and I decided that I wanted to try something different. I went with fabric wall bulletin boards instead of fadeless paper. I got my fabric from walmart and spent about 30 dollars, which is about what I would have spent on fadeless. I then took my fabric to Lake Shore and matched as best as I could with boarders. I think they came out pretty good!  I'm getting eager and a excited about setting up a new room!

The kids in thier matching outfits for Birch Aquarium/La Jolla Cove

Productive Day!

So yesterday was a strangly productive day. Other than keeping the kiddos busy playing and mopping the floors twice, I managed to make Aleena a dress and matching headband for Birch Aquarium today. I also got busy on making some "pinterest" things for my classroom.

Here are the kids matching outfits for Birch Aquarium

Aleena's Pillowcase Dress and matching headband.

Jameson's shorts I made.

So I found some cute polka dot labels on pinterest and I was recently given a small laminator, so I decided to make some labels for the classroom so I can be organized starting off the new year! I had a little helper in my production line of making these and he was very proud to be helping mommy with my classroom stuff!!

I also got the idea to make a favorite memory jar and the kids can add memories all year long and then we'll read them during the last week of school.

I'm getting very excited for 4th grade and am glad I can be doing some of these projects at home. Well I'm off to finish getting ready for Birch Aquarium. Will post pictures later of my kiddos in their matching outfits!

Summer with the kids...

After teaching kinder camp for the last time...(spent the past 6 years in kindergarten) I was sad, but excited for my new adventure ahead in 4th grade. I attended the ISTE conference in San Diego this year with a team member. It is truly amazing what can be done with technology these days. I am excited that someday my children will be using technology in the classroom on a regular basis. I can't wait to learn more and be part of the technology boom that is spreading across education.

On another note, I've been spending lots of time with the kids since i'm home now. We've been to the zoo, the park. Spent the weekend up at my brother's house in Hemet and the kids had a blast. I sewed my first dress for my daughter yesterday. After that my mom and I went to walmart and we bought my first sewing machine. :)

I am excited to make some fun things for my kids! Now i'm off to open the box and figure out how to work this thing!
