DECEMBER..My Favorite Month!

December is my favorite month. It's a wacky one for us. 5 plus birthdays in the immediate family, mine included! Big boy Jameson is turning 6 on the 9th. I can't believe how big he is. He could pass for a second grader.

We just had family portraits done professionally by Wendy Childress I love them and can't wait to get them in my hands! Here is a sneak peek.
I can't seem to catch up on blogging. I have some fun things to post. Maybe I'll get to it over Christmas Break. Right now I am linking up with Farley for December's Currently.
Have a great holiday everyone!

November Currently...Super Late!

Ok, so super late. I saw the currently post, but we were leaving for a camping trip and it had to wait. I stayed home sick Monday, as the stomach flu had hit the family. I have never been so stressed at work as I am this year. Our district is implementing common core math and writing. It's challenging!

Lot's of exciting things have happened. I posted last year about my little brother proposing to his girlfriend. Well they got married in October. It was a beautiful wedding. We had some family in town from Germany and spent a lot of time with them while they were here. Let's just say I am glad October is over!!!

Loving- Living in San Diego, we don't see a real cold winter, but I think the hot weather has died down enough for us So Cal peeps to put sweaters and boots on!!
Thinking- too much to get caught up on. Report cards are due soon and parent/teacher conferences are on the 18th.
Wanting- Too much laundry to get caught up on from our camping trip..I want the laundry fairy to come visit.
Needing- My classroom has a few too many piles to be organized and filed away.

Yummy pin-This one I found on pinterest and have made twice. Both times it was a hit with the family!

Have a great week!

October Currently

So here it is October, a new month, and I have not posted since my last currently. Life is SO busy right now. Here is a little bit of my life in a few sentences. My brother is getting married October 11th! Both of my kids are in the wedding. I am on way too many committees at work! My son is playing soccer. It's of the biggest fundraisers at school is coming up...Halloween Carnival. Ummm COMMON CORE! Anyone else overwhelmed with Common Core? I am!! We are fundraising for our 4th grade team to spend the night on the Star of India. Our first fundraiser is currently going on. I can't wait until November...hopefully things will slow down. yea right...parent teacher conferences are in November. Oh well. Sorry to vent! I am linking up with Farley with October's currently.

Listening: Hubby and I like to play candy crush. It's kind of a sick addiction!

Loving:  I went to Michael's this weekend and made a new fall decoration. I love it! I will share a picture at the end of the post.

Thinking: The next two weeks are packed full of wedding stuff for my brother, common core training's  soccer games and practices, and field trips to the pumpkin patch!

Wanting: My brother's wedding to be here. My baby brother is getting married. I couldn't be more happy for him and his future wife, Tiffany!!

Needing: A reason needed! LOL

Trick or Treat: Treat!! OK. I went to Michael's this weekend and they had a huge sale on Fall and Halloween stuff. I bought probably too much, but in the end I came home and made a really cute decoration for the house!

Happy Fall to everyone!!

Ready or Not School is here!

Oh my, where did Summer go? One day I was hanging out at the beach and now my room is ready for 34 fourth graders on Monday morning! I am super excited to start this year. Last year I was new to 4th. It will be nice to have one year under the belt. We have 2 new members to our team. I am excited about our new team...we are going to rock this year! Our district is implementing common core math and writing this year. Should be fun and interesting.

I made a few changes to my room. New posters, new bulletins, and moved some things around. I had a lot of fun with teachers pay teachers this summer and found LOTS of chevron items. Did I mention chevron? I love it. So cute! I have some pictures to post to show off my room. Enjoy!

Oh!! Did I mention I will have a kindergartner this year? Yup! Little man Jameson is starting kinder this year at my school. He is super excited. He asked me  a question the other day..."Mommy how many doors is your classroom from me?" Adorable right??

August Currently

Well it's about time for school things to start happening. I will be going in to my classroom and attending a training very soon. I'm trying to get all my running around done before then and spend some quality time with my 2 little ones. Not to mention go back to school shopping for my big 5 1/2 year old who starts kindergarten this fall at my school I teach at! Needless to say he is SUPER excited!!!

OK, now I'm linking up with Farley over at
for August's Currently!
Listening- Baby girl is napping so my son is watching Mickey Mouse right now.

Loving- I just went to Bed, Bath & Beyond today to get some more k cups for my Keurig Coffee maker, of course I had my 20% coupons! I wanted a new candle and one attracted my eye because of the color. It was a rich turquoise color and interestingly it was called turquoise sky. It smells delightful! It's made by Yankee Candles.

Thinking- I'm feeling a little guilty that I didn't work on anything for my classroom this summer. The only thing I think I managed to do was pin a bunch of school ideas on pinterest! Hehe!
Wanting- Hubby and I got married August 9th, 2003 and we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Our goal was to always go to Hawaii, but with two little kids now it's not that realistic! So we decided we are going to venture up the coast. We are from San Diego and have done most touristy things here in our home town. I've never been to Santa Monica Pier so we may head up that way next weekend!
Needing- JCPenny is my place to shop for clothes. I took my son and daughter shopping for new clothes and even managed to grab some shorts for the hubby. But a momma cannot shop and try on clothes efficiently with a 2 and 5 year old.
B2s Must Have-
I'm not a big TpT person yet. I'm not that creative to publish things on there or have the time to with my little ones. I do go on there to look for things and Ideas and download a lot of the free items. However I have seen a lot of good common core things I may have to purchase this year!! So that leaves me to my basic things I pick up each year with out a hesitant.
1. Name tag plates. In the past I've taught Kinder, so it was a cute one with a design, now this is my 2nd year in 4th so I go for the upper grade one with the multiplication chart and cursive alphabet!
I get the blue ones!
2. One cent folders! I used them in kinder and still use them in 4th. Can't go wrong with the one cent folders from staples! I usually get 3 sets of 36!
3.Every teacher can't for get a new plan book. It's where all the master ideas get organized to make our days organized and successful!!!
Well I'm off to clean up around the house! Plus I think little one is awake from her nap!
See ya!

Thank You Letter from Sandy Hook PTA

So back in December right after the Sandy Hook tragedy, I heard that they were collecting snowflakes made by anyone to decorate the school when the students returned to school in January. My 4th graders and I took the opportunity to lend a helping hand and cheer some students up. We made about 100 snowflakes and I sent them out just after Christmas.

Our family just came back from vacation up in the mountains of Julian, CA. When I went to go check the mail I found a thank you letter from the Sandy Hook PTA thanking me and my students for the snowflakes. I will definitely have my students back sometime in the beginning of the year for a meeting so they can see the thank you note too. I think they would feel honored!

Let's get aquainted party!

Linking up with Flying into First Grade
It's fun to do these things. I like getting to know other fellow teachers.

Here's how it works:

Topic- Tic Tac Toe

How it Works:  Look at the graphic below.  It is a Tic Tac Toe board filled with different categories.  You will post about three of these categories but they have to make Tic Tac Toe.  For example, you can choose to write about 3 topics that go vertical, or 3 topics that go horizontal, or three topics that go diagonal.

I am going diagonal from the top left to the bottom right.

I went to ______ college and a favorite memory.

I went to Cal State San Marcos. Our mascot was cougars. It is currently my classroom college to encourage my students to go to college. One favorite memory that I have from college was in our teaching cohort. We took a class with a Dr. Rosario Diaz-Greenberg. She was amazing. She taught us about pedagogy and how to teach ESL students. One of her passions was to help students in Guatemala, her hometown. Our cohort collected supplies from crayons to pencils, markers, chalk, hand sanitizer, snacks, pencil sharpeners, notebooks and much more. We set up an assembly line in class and bagged more than 200 gallon sized Ziploc bags for her to take to Guatemala. My friend Cherise was lucky enough to travel with our professor and deliver the materials to the students. She said the look on their faces were priceless. Never a memory that I will forget!

My Favorite Memory as a school kid.

One of my favorite memories as a school kid was the talent show we did in 6th grade. I was with my 3 best friends, of course, and we had a dance move rehearsed to Gloria Estefan's 1-2-3 song! Let me tell you it was hilarious. I wish I had easy access to the video, but I don't.

I have quite a few hobbies. Hmmm... where do I start?? Well one of my first hobbies was making scrapbooks. I have made quite a few. The last one I made was for my son's first year of life and it took me almost 3 years to complete it!! My next one will be for my daughter. It's my goal to start it this summer.

I also like to sew. I just got a sewing machine last summer and have made some shorts, dresses, and table clothes since I've gotten it.

I like to make hair bows. My friend makes them for her business and I was like I can make these. They are fun and super cute!

I pretty much like to do anything crafty!

Well that's all for now. Have a great week everyone and a Happy 4th of July!

July Currently

It's almost July and since Farley had her currently up early, I am going to get mine done too. I have a lot going on next week and this weekend. We have been very busy here having lots of fun this summer. We've been to the beach, the river, and the San Diego County Fair. Next week for the fourth we are having a BBQ at my mom and dad's house. They have a pool, so that will be fun for the kids. You can also see a few firework shows from their house, so we will be staying there! My goal is to try and make a cake like this for the party.

I haven't posted anything really school related or created anything, but my mind is constantly thinking about it. Our school is closed now for the summer, just the custodial staff is there cleaning our rooms for August. However I am obsessed with the chevron print and found lots of great things on So I am secretly saving away until school starts. I'm having too much fun with MY kids!

OK! Currently Time!

June Currently

Linking up with Farley over at Oh' Boy Fourth Grade.

Here is my June Currently!

I am super excited that school is in it's final stretch. Our last day is the 7th. I spent this weekend getting the house and backyard ready for our staff end of the year party. I am excited and looking forward to the end of the day on Friday. It's been a great year and I have learned so much teaching 4th grade. I finally have one year under the belt along with my 6 of kindergarten! Next year will go a lot smoother!

I have enjoyed my students. It's been a whirlwind, but fun! In just a month or so I can officially say I've been a blogger for a year, so exciting!

OK...Currently Time!

Have a great week everyone!

End of the year gifts

Well it's that time of the year. Parent volunteers have been a huge help in my classroom this year. Tomorrow our school is honoring all volunteers with a little breakfast. I picked up some goodies for my two parents who helped throughout the whole year!

A fun little basket that was only about $10.00. I hope they enjoy them!

By the way, T-minus 6 days left until Summer Break!! I am so ready for a break! :)

May Currently, Summer Bucket List and Teacher Appreciation

Linking up with Farley for May's Currently!!
We have been knee deep in test prep. We take the STAR test officially next week. I feel like my kids have been working super hard and have been very patient with the amount of test prep going on,  SO I decided to do a fun activity. I saw a "Summer Bucket List" project for kids online and incorporated it into my classroom. It turned out really cute and they had a blast making it.

Here is my currently for May
Our School is also celebrating Teacher appreciation week and I had a parent plan some fun things. So far each day has been something new. Here are a few pictures of what came to me this week.
 Day #1 Decorate the Door
Day #2 Bring a flower
Day #3 Stock up with supplies
Enjoy! Have a good week everyone!
